Dead Man's Party

So I've been pretty much dying to update here but I haven't had very many good sharing dreams lately, and I too like to post with substance. But I had a nap today. And I have not seen Corpse Bride yet but I would really like to.

It was really quite Addams-esque. There was a family, with a mother and father and two daughters and a son. Perhaps there was more, I can't remember too well, I should have written it down. The family lived in a large, dark, but not-ancient house, and the walls were covered with all kinds of notes and papers and scribblings taped or nailed or glued up. All the furniture was old and looked kind of like the inside of an old wooden coffin. The family was sitting down to dinner, and they were speaking French-Cajun. I think they were discussing one of the suitors for the oldest daughter, but she excused herself and left sobbing or something. The son and the other daughter decided they would go 'shopping' to get their (halloween) costumes ready. Meanwhile, the parents finished their dinners and were walking around the house pulling up floorboards and tearing up wall panels and replacing them with rubbish.

When the son and daughter came back, they looked very dead-like, and were sporting raggy but rich-looking clothes, very southern nouveau-riche/ nouveau-mort. "Look Ma, at the fancy new clothes we've found second hand in the cemetary! Aren't they just lovely?" And I spoke up, when I had just been an observer before. "Oh that's not how you do it. It really isn't. You have to get the dead body first, then you dress it up. It all starts with the body. If you don't have the body you can't have the costume." They looked at me funny and I don't think I was making sense. I don't know, I might have just been the senile old grandmother.

The daughter returned in her costume, and the family went out in the night for halloween revelry. They had some trouble crossing the street (I realize now the street was somewhere on Main). The first daughter was able to make it across, and she stood under the streetlight waving at the others to follow, but then the mother and father went the other way and dissappeared. The other two children lay down and slept there in the middle of the street, and about then I woke up.
